EPPSA COMMUNITY SOCCER PROGRAM | | E.P.P.S.A's program is a values oriented approach to the development of the character of inner-city youth through fostering the combination of teamwork, responsibility, and discipline. We seek to inspire our community's youth to strive for excellence through sports with the support of one-to-one mentoring, academic tutoring, employment opportunities, and college grants for highly motivated community youth. Additionally, our program assists in the development of life skills that help our community's youngsters gain greater self-confidence and esteem. We believe it is essential to provide opportunities that will assist them in gaining well-rounded skills that will serve as a springboard to future achievement and success. | | East Phillips Parks Sports Association is a community-based organization, which takes an intervention and prevention approach to dissolving those elements that are diminishing the quality of life for residents and the youth of Phillips, one of the most economically and socially challenged communities in the City of Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota. E.P.P.S.A. believes in and provides adult supervised and structured organized sports, academic, art, and music activities, thus reinforcing E.P.P.S.A.’s core principles of responsibility, team spirit, hard work, and discipline. By organizing such activities and involving adult community members in supervision, E.P.P.S.A. give the Phillips community an opportunity to directly reach out to, influence and impact the youth in our community in a positive and caring direction. Children are the future and leveling the playing field for disadvantaged youth and bridging the gap between the “haves” and “have nots” promoting equal opportunity must be a priority and needs investment in order to secure a future successful America. Providing the simplest of things like community oriented athletics, arts, and music can ensure a foundation on which the youth lead positive successful lives into their adult years and contribute to the overall society and the American experience. | | |
